Online Gathering with Captain Jim Sharp
Wednesday, January 26th we heard from Captain Jim Sharp about recent happenings at the Sail, Power and Steam Museum in Rockland, Maine, and about Schooner Adventure when she was “Queen of the Windjammers” sailing out of Camden, Maine. This online gathering was well attended with over 100 friends of Adventure registered.
In 2007, Captain Sharp and his wife Meg purchased the former Hurricane Island Outward Bound School and the old Snow Shipyard as a home for their growing maritime collections and founded the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum and the Midcoast Sailing Center. The campus now includes a venue for musicians and performances; a boat shop that maintains and restores the collection of boats and engines; and a waterfront event space on the shores of Rockland’s working waterfront. His book of memoirs With Reckless Abandon tells the tale in compellingly colorful detail.
