Adventure Gala 2019

This year’s Gala Fundraiser, Adventure Inspires, was a resounding success!  For the third year running, the event sold out, with over 180 guests celebrating the past year’s growth and success as we head into our fifth sailing season. Gala Chair, Audi Souza did an inspired job of decorating the Elks at Bass Rocks to make it festive. The Dory photo op and Spin the Stoddart Wheel provided fun and laughter during the cocktail hour. The catered hors doeuvres and dinner by Relish were delicious. The room was buzzing with energy and the live auction saw solid engagement from our guests. Musical entertainment was provided by the Cape Ann Big Band.

Many inspiring stories were shared over the course of the evening about the connectedness of our community. Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken and State Senator Bruce Tarr made remarks.  Adventure descendant Dianne Newhall spoke about her ancestors who sailed on the Adventure and the meaning to her family to be able to sail aboard her now. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, donors and guests over $100,000 was raised, making this our most successful Gala ever!

To quote the words of our Board President, John Morris, the word inspiration means to “breathe into” – to supply the vital force that makes an idea or project come to life. Just as the wind fills the sails of Adventure on a breezy day in Gloucester, so does the support of our community inspire Gloucester Adventure Inc. to fulfill our mission to operate the Schooner Adventure at sea as a living symbol of Gloucester’s maritime heritage and enable her to serve as a community resource for educational programming.
